Timber & Glass: A Gnarly Homes A-Frame in the Blue Ridge Foothills

A light-filled A-frame by Gnarly Homes, cared for and shaped by Ashley Nunneker and Trey Yearwood

A Long Search, Then a Sudden Yes

There’s a moment—just as the road curves upward—when Timber & Glass comes into view. Set quietly outside Blue Ridge, Georgia, the A-frame sits among the trees with an ease that feels deliberate. Light spills through its glass facade, angles sharpening and softening at once. It doesn’t announce itself so much as reveal itself, slowly, as if waiting for you to notice.

Ashley and Trey have been coming to Blue Ridge for over a decade, long enough to know the difference between visiting and belonging. “Every time we’re there, it takes our breath away,” Ashley says. “It’s warm and inviting… it’s hard to leave.” For them, Timber & Glass was never meant to be just another mountain cabin. It was their first short-term rental, yes—but more importantly, it was a chance to own something thoughtfully designed. A home where architecture, interiors, and atmosphere carried as much weight as location.

Then one afternoon, an Instagram video stopped Ashley mid-scroll. An A-frame. Glass-forward. Familiar. She recognized it immediately as a Gnarly Homes design. Within hours, they had scheduled a virtual tour. That night, they made an offer. Two days later, they walked through the home in person—already knowing it was theirs. “We’d been following Gnarly Homes for years,” Ashley says. “Unique designs, nothing cookie-cutter. When I saw the video, I knew immediately it was one of theirs.”

Living With Light and Space

Timber & Glass isn’t simply an A-frame; it’s Gnarly Homes’ own interpretation of one. From the exterior, the structure is defined by a distinctive geometric window pattern. Inside, the upper loft is enclosed by a fully glazed wall, a move that brings light deep into the house while preserving privacy. “When you look down into the living area from the loft,” Ashley says, “it feels like walking into an old cathedral. You feel so small and so big at the same time.”

Driving up to Timber & Glass—especially at night—is part of the experience. As the house emerges from the trees, it glows softly, present but not theatrical. Inside, the home opens vertically, using space efficiently without ever feeling constrained. There’s warmth without heaviness, modern lines softened by texture and light. Trey says, “As you come up the hill… the way the house presents from the exterior is pretty intoxicating. It kind of takes your breath away.”

Ashley and Trey purchased the home directly from Gnarly Homes, including the interiors styled by theBethany Kaylor. The space arrived fully furnished and resolved, remarkably aligned with their own taste. Since then, they’ve made a few thoughtful additions—a hot tub, fire pit strung with soft lights, and a sauna coming soon—but the foundation was already there. Materials feel honest, furnishings never compete with the architecture, and every choice feels intentional. “We wanted a space where people could just arrive, relax, and feel at home without having to think about anything,” Ashley adds.

This 3-bedroom, 2.5-bath home sleeps six comfortably, making it perfect for friends or family. Every corner is designed to welcome you in, bathe you in light, and let you experience modern design softened with warmth and intention.

Favorite Moments

Life at Timber & Glass naturally orbits a few key spaces. The living room couch faces a wall of windows framing the surrounding woods. Deer pass through often, unbothered, appearing as if they’ve always belonged. “You’re just sitting on the couch in front of the fireplace, watching the wildlife,” Ashley says. Mornings stretch out on the screened porch overlooking a meadow left intentionally untouched, while upstairs the loft becomes a place for quiet movement and reflection. “In the loft, that’s where I do my yoga,” Ashley says. “When you’re up there looking down into the rest of the house, it’s like walking into a really old cathedral with huge ceilings and intricate design. You feel so small, but you feel so big. It just feels incredible… I’m awestruck every time I go up there.”

Guest Reactions

Ashley and Trey don’t manage Timber & Glass themselves, but they read every review their property manager sends. One word appears again and again: stunning. Here, stunning isn’t about amenities or luxury—it’s about proportion, about how glass, wood, and light interact, and about how the house feels the moment you step inside—and how quietly it stays with you afterward. “Stunning is the word that keeps coming up,” Ashley says. “And it’s exactly what we hoped people would feel when they’re here.”

Beyond the Platforms

Timber & Glass is professionally managed, but Ashley and Trey think long-term. Being featured on a curated, design-led platform like Locèlle allows the story of the home—and of Gnarly Homes—to be told in full. It reaches guests who notice architecture, value light and proportion, and care more about how a space feels than how it performs.

The People Behind Timber & Glass

Timber & Glass was built by Gnarly Homes, whose work consistently favors intention over trend and originality over repetition. Interiors were styled by Bethany Kaylor, balancing warmth and restraint while letting the architecture remain central. Ashley Nunneker brings a background in hospitality law, while Trey Yearwood is an entrepreneur in healthcare and regenerative medicine. Years spent around high-end hospitality subtly shape how they think about hosting—not as a transaction, but as an act of welcome. “Representing high-end hotels for so many years,” Ashley says, “you pick up a few things about five-star service and what it means to welcome someone into your home.”

Staying at Timber & Glass
